The case we want to share today comes from a toner bottle production line in the UK. In order to improve the manufacturing process, the company moved toner production to France and established two factories in the resulting space, one for toner bottle production, and one for toner color filling.

Up to 40,000 bottles are produced daily and shipped to the toner color filling operation in an adjacent room. To carry out tool changes on the four bottle production machines as well as temporary maintenance tasks including inspection and repair work, the factory installed a 16.8m span, 2 ton bridge crane built to specification.

The crane manufacturer also supplied a 28m long fully supported gantry from which the crane can operate, which is nearly 6m tall, provides 6.7m of lift and straddles four tall bottle production machines.

The single-girder beam was fitted with a wire rope hoist and a divorced pendant control to operate the long travel, hoist travel and vertical hoisting motions.

What we learned from this case

We note that in this case, the crane needs to span the width of the warehouse or factory and travel along its length, which means the design of the crane needs to be changed based on the layout of the factory, or a customized design can be provided based on the customer’s changing business needs.

In our past cases, most bridge cranes have been designed and installed in parallel with the construction of the customer’s factory building, while the space is being constructed – they are incorporated into the building plan. If you do customized design in an existing building space, it will take more time to ensure that the parameters are accurate, and there are often unpredictable risks. It requires engineers to have enough experience and factories to have sufficiently advanced equipment. production capacity.
